The RARE Lightswitch V2 is a plug-and-play handlebar switch that turns the headlight and taillight of the Stark Varg on or off together. It plugs inline between the lights and the factory wiring harness using the original connectors. Nothing is cut, nothing is spliced, and the bike is back to stock in minutes.
What the Lightswitch V2 does
- Switches headlight and taillight together with one switch on the handlebar. The V1 only switched the headlight.
- Optional 12V output at the front, at the rear, or both, for a GPS, a phone charger or an auxiliary light.
- The switch glows softly while the lights are on and stays dark when they are off, so you see the status at a glance.
Installation
Plug and play with the original connectors: unplug the headlight, plug the headlight adapter lead inline, do the same at the taillight, clamp the switch to the handlebar. No cutting, no splicing, no modification to the bike, fully reversible.
Versions
All four versions switch the same headlight and taillight. You only choose whether you add a 12V output, and where: without, front, rear, or front and rear.

Which Stark Varg does the Lightswitch V2 fit?
The RARE Lightswitch V2 is designed exclusively for the Stark Varg EX and Stark Varg SM. Only these two models have original lights and light connectors. It connects to the original headlight and taillight connectors, so there is no adapter to buy and nothing to cut. The Varg MX has no lights.
What is the difference between Lightswitch V1 and V2?
The V1 switches the headlight only. The V2 switches headlight and taillight together with one handlebar switch, and it can add a 12V output at the front, at the rear, or at both ends. If you only want to control the headlight, the Lightswitch V1 is the cheaper option.
How is the Lightswitch V2 installed?
Plug and play, in a few minutes: unplug the headlight connector and plug the headlight adapter lead inline. Do the same at the taillight with the taillight adapter lead. Clamp the switch to the handlebar and route the cable along the existing harness. Nothing is cut or spliced. Remove the leads and the bike is back to stock.
What is the 12 V output for?
The optional 12 V output supplies accessories, for example a GPS, a phone charger or an auxiliary light. On the RARE Lightswitch V2 you choose where it sits: at the front, at the rear or both. Like the switch itself, it is plug and play and needs no cutting.
The light switch is designed for the load of the light mask, about 2.7 A (32 W) with the high beam on. With the lights switched on, any extra load is too much. Use accessories only while the lights are switched off. Switch off or unplug accessories before switching the lights on. Maximum load with the lights switched off: 2.7 A (32 W) per output, at the front and at the rear. Overload can switch off vehicle lights, including the brake light.
Why would I turn the lights off on a Stark Varg?
Most riders switch the lights off on closed courses, at the motocross track and on daylight off-road rides, where lights are not needed and a permanently lit headlight gets in the way of other riders. From the factory, the Varg has no handlebar switch for its lights.
Can I see whether the lights are on?
Yes. The switch glows softly while the lights are on and stays dark when they are off, so you can check the status at a glance.
Is the RARE Lightswitch V2 waterproof?
The RARE Lightswitch V2 is designed for wet riding conditions. It has no tested IP rating yet, so we do not call it waterproof. Do not direct a high-pressure washer or steam cleaner at the switch unit, the cables or the connectors. The electronics have reverse polarity and overvoltage protection. Every RARE Lightswitch V2 comes with a 2-year warranty.
Does the Lightswitch affect the Stark Future warranty?
The Lightswitch uses the original connectors and makes no permanent change to the wiring harness, so it can be removed without a trace. Warranty terms are set by Stark Future, and fitting parts that are not original equipment may affect them. See the legal notice below.
Is it legal to ride with the lights off?
Not on public roads. The RARE Lightswitch V2 is for off-road use only. Not approved for use on public roads. With the light switch installed, your motorcycle is no longer approved for use on public roads. This also applies with the lights switched on. Before riding on public roads, remove the light switch and reconnect the original connectors. Use it on closed courses, on private property and in other areas where off-road riding is legally permitted.

⚠️ Warnings:
- Off-road use only. Not approved for use on public roads. With the light switch installed, your motorcycle is no longer approved for use on public roads. Before riding on public roads, remove the light switch and reconnect the original connectors.
- With the light switch off, the light mask is off, including the front turn signals. The RARE Lightswitch V2 also switches off the taillight, the brake light and the integrated rear turn signals. Lights on the license plate holder are not switched. Others cannot see you, your braking or your turning. Switch the lights on whenever you need them to see or to be seen. When you switch the motorcycle on, the lights come back in the state they were in before. Check the switch before you ride off.
- After installation and before every ride, carry out a function test: switch the lights on and test the low beam, high beam, position light, taillight, brake light and all turn signals. With the high beam on, the turn signals flash slightly faster. This is a known effect of the light switch. If a light or turn signal fails, remove the light switch and contact RARE.
- Switch the motorcycle off completely before installation. Never open or work on the high-voltage battery or high-voltage cables.
- Connect the light switch only to the original connectors, as described in the installation guide. Do not cut any wiring. Do not open or modify the switch unit, the cables or the connectors.
- Route the cable along the wiring harness and keep it away from moving and hot parts. Secure it with cable ties so that it is not pinched or pulled tight. The handlebar must turn freely from lock to lock.
- Mount the switch unit so that it touches neither the throttle, the levers nor the control switch. Check that the throttle closes by itself at every handlebar position.
- 12 V output (variants with 12 V output only): Use accessories only while the lights are switched off. Switch off or unplug accessories before switching the lights on. With the lights switched on, any extra load is too much: overload can switch off vehicle lights, including the brake light. Maximum load with the lights switched off: 2.7 A (32 W) per output, at the front and at the rear. Connect 12 V DC accessories only and never bypass a fuse.
